Extra trip to Publix for deals I missed

Gosh, it always seems every week that I am in such a rush when I'm at the store that I miss something I really wanted to get. Normally, I just cut my losses and move on, but my husband went out of town this weekend so partly out of boredom (sad, I know) I went back out today to Winn Dixie and Publix. I didn't take a picture of my purchases at Winn Dixie, because it was just some meat put on manager's special - ground beef, flank steak, and stew meat. I spent $7.12 including tax for the meat, and it'll give us three good meals this week!

I did take a picture of what I got at Publix though:

Not a lot of stuff, but I also found some booklets that I hadn't seen at a different Publix in town, and I saw some new blinkies that I grabbed for future purchases. Just because it's not a good deal now doesn't mean it won't be in the future! I spent $5.31 including tax for everything pictured. The nail clippers I actually made money on - clearanced to $.79 and had $1/1 MQ. The cheese was cheap since it was $1.67 each, and I still found the $2/2 MQ in Publix! I couldn't believe people hadn't snatched all these up. The sausage is a surprise for my husband - I don't like it and don't normally buy it, but it was $1.50 after my $1/1 MQ, and he loves it! I try to buy things he likes too...even if I wouldn't touch it!

On a side note, I just got done eating some strawberry shortcake I made myself from the Sara Lee pound cake, $.25 strawberries, and Cool Whip from my previous Publix trip. It was DELICIOUS!

Publix 3/25

I ran into Publix on the way home from work today just to grab a few items I had coupons for, plus a few sale items I didn't! The best of what I got:
  • Kraft Philly Cream Cheese Minis, reg. price $1.89, had free coupon
  • Strawberries, on sale $2, had $1.75/1 store coupon wyb Sara Lee pound cake
  • Sara Lee pound cake, $1.89, had $1/1 MQ
  • Oscar Meyer bacon, on sale $3, had $1.50/1 MQ
  • Bob Evans sweet potato sides, on sale $2.50, had $1/1 MQ and $1/1 store coupon
I just realized looking at my receipt that the Cool Whip I bought that I thought was $.99 rang up $2. Oh well, to me it's not worth going back to argue over $1. I could have bought the wrong size too! I also grabbed some Heinz ketchup, Betty Crocker muffin mix, Kraft salad dressings, asparagus, potatoes, and canola oil. All in all I only spent $21.21 including tax, and saved $29.25!

FREE at CVS & Walgreens

I headed to both CVS & Walgreens on my lunch break today (luckily, they are RIGHT next to each other...don't even have to move the car!). I thought it was crazy that there were only like 3 Colgate toothpastes left at CVS....the one I went to is less than a mile from where I've been working in a city with less than 6,000 people. Apparently, a lot of these people look for good deals! I got all this stuff for free at both stores:

The Dawn Hand Renewal and Colgate were from CVS (I had two $1/1 coupon for the Dawn, which were on sale for $.96). The Colgate had a $3.99 ECB, and I had a $4 ECB from last week, making it free. Plus, I had a $.75/1 for the toothpaste, so to cover my overage, I got a birthday card for my mother-in-law. It wasn't free, but my overage helped buy something I needed to get anyway! The Olay Quench lotion is free after MIR, and at Walgreens when you buy the lotion you get the In-Shower Body Lotion free! I also had a $1/1 coupon for both of these products, giving me a profit of $2! I'd recommend heading to the drugstores this week to catch some of these deals. I love getting stuff I need for free!

Becoming a big fan of Target!

I don't shop at Target often for groceries. The one we have here isn't even a Super Target, so the selection is pretty limited. However, with these gift card deals I've been able to continue rolling, I have become a huge fan of the store! Plus, my cashier today was super friendly and even asked where she could get the AirWick coupon I used. I spent a total of $5 oop (would have been $10, but used a $5 gift card from a previous transaction), and earned another $5 gift card. The Air Wick I-Motion was free combining $5 MQ and $1 SQ, and the PopTarts were 4/$10, earning a $5 gift card and I had a $1/1 MQ.

1st time at CVS and Krogering!

I headed to Kroger this morning to shop their Mega Sale bright and early (well...except I forgot about Daylight Savings time, but I still got there pretty early!). I got all these groceries for $58.43, including tax!

Some of the best deals I found were:
  • 2 boxes Kellogg's 12 ct pop tarts, on sale $2.19, had $1/2 coupon for home mailer
  • 2 packages Kraft shredded cheese, on sale $.99, had $1/1 coupon from home mailer
  • 2 packages Kraft singles, on sale $.99, had $1/2 coupon from home mailer
  • 1 Wesson oil, on sale $1.99, had $1/1 MQ
  • 4 Coke 2 liters, on sale $.79, had $1/3 coupon from home mailer
  • Chocolate chex mix, on sale $1.50, had $.50/1 MQ doubled (forgot my own Kroger card....so didn't get to use my e-coupon)
  • 2 Mott's apple juice, on sale $.99
  • 24 pk of Deer Park water, on sale $2.99
  • Hefty 72 ct trash bags, on sale $9.99, had $1/1 coupon from home mailer (we desperately needed trash bags, and this isn't a TERRIBLE price)
  • 1 Hellman's mayonnaise, on sale $2.49, had $.75/1 coupon from home mailer
  • 8 pkgs Bumblebee premium tuna, on sale $.29-.49
I also got some sausage links for the husband and boneless skinless chicken breasts at $1.99/lb.

Then I made my first trip to CVS. I had a free coupon for Herbal Essences shampoo, which had a $1 ECB. Then I used that on my next transaction for deodorant, and the $5 deodorant ECB for my Glade transaction. I spent a total of $11 oop, but after my $5 rebate for the three glade products, and the $4 ECB I have remaining, I really got all of this stuff for $2! My husband told me to please stop buying deodorant for him for awhile though :)

Publix & Winn Dixie 3/12

I really didn't buy all that much this week, seeing as how I spent quite a bit last week. My husband came with me to Publix and Winn Dixie to grab some deals. At Publix I spent $12.19, which included $.25 yogurt, some cheap cabbage, Kellogg's granola for $1, and of course the husband wanted some Hungryman meals so he got a few of those. We saved $18.89.

Then we went to a specific Winn Dixie in Montgomery that was having a "grand opening sale". The other Winn Dixie stores were not participating (and this Winn Dixie isn't brand new...so I was kind of confused). The deals were ground chuck for $1.49/lb, dozen large eggs for $1, a 20 pk of Coke for $2.99, and Brawny 8 ct of paper towels for $4.99. We spent $12.14, and saved $11.68.

Sunday shopping at Rite Aid/Publix

Ran into Publix to get just a few items that I had some good coupons for. Also needed to get a Birmingham paper..instead of the Montgomery one..that they only carry at one certain Publix. I don't mind going a little out of my way though, because all the extra coupons are worth it! I spent $3.83 (including tax) and saved $11.23!
  • 3 Birdseye steamfresh vegetables, sale price $.89-1.19, had $1/2 MQ and $1/3 Store coupon
  • 2 Kraft shredded cheese, on sale $1.67, found a $2/2 tearpad
  • 1 Dannon natural yogurt, on sale $.40 (bought one because I thought it would be a good snack for work one day)
  • 1 Yoplait greek yogurt, reg. price $1.19, FREE store coupon
Then I headed to Rite Aid with my new set of coupons, ready for some good deals. While they didn't have everything I was looking for, I got a lot:
  • 1 gallon milk, reg. price $2.99 (I forgot to get it at Publix-but it was actually cheaper at Rite Aid which was a nice surprise!)
  • 1 Crest toothpaste, on sale $2.89, used $1/1 MQ, will get $1 SCR
  • 1 Scope mouthwash, on sale $3.50, used $.75/1 MQ
  • 1 Always 80 ct liners, on sale $5.99, used $1/1 MQ, will get $1 SCR
  • 1 Nyquil 20 ct, on sale $4.99, used $1.50/1 MQ, will get $2 SCR
  • 4 ct Gillette Fusion razor refills, reg. price $14.99 (ouch! but they got me over the $30 threshold for the $10 gift card wyb certain P&G products)
  • 1 Gillette Fusion razor, reg. price $10.49, had FREE coupon wyb refills
  • 1 Gillette Fusion shave gel, FREE in store special wyb Fusion refills
I also used a $5/25 coupon to get my oop even lower. I spent $30.18 (including $4.08 tax...we pay 10% sales tax here so it's always pretty high), but I will get $4 SCR back and a $10 Rite Aid gift card, making it more like $16.....and only $12 for all of those items if you don't include tax!! That's less than the Fusion razor cartridge refills alone!

Then I did another transaction at Rite Aid to get some John Freida shampoos/conditioner. I love the way they smell and I do feel like my hair is more manageable when I use them. I only bought one paper so I only had one $3/1 MQ, but I found two $1/1 coupons hanging on two of the shampoos. I also had a $3/15 coupon, making my total $8.20 with tax. Once I get my SCR for $5, it'll be like getting all 3 for $3! Not bad for shampoo that's normally $6-$7 a piece!

great meat deals @ Winn Dixie!

Normally, I'm not a big Winn Dixie shopper. At all, really, unless their meat is B1G1, which most of it is this week. I had gotten a $10/50 purchase coupon last week when I bought a few items, and I took advantage of it and the "Make a Meal" promotion this week to get alot of food for $45. And I got a bunch!:
  • 8 cans of tuna
  • 1.5 lbs of seedless grapes
  • 2 bags potpourri (clearanced to $1.24)
  • 3 cans sauerkraut
  • 4 packages boneless skinless chicken breasts (B1G1)
  • 2 packages boneless pork chops, manager's special
  • 1 package boneless country style ribs, manager's special
  • 2 Lean Cuisines
  • 2 Digourno pizzas, buy those for $13.98, get the following free
  • 1 Pepsi 2 liter
  • 1 package Totino's pizza rolls
  • 1 package Dole's iceberg salad
  • 1 Breyer's ice cream
Needless to say, I wouldn't have done the Make a Deal promotion if it wasn't for my $10 coupon. I was buying so much meat though, it was easier to get to $50 than it normally would be.
