Rite Aid Clearance!

I went to Rite Aid today and noticed they had quite a bit on clearance. I got a bottle of nail polish for $.75 and shaving cream for $.50 after SCR and clearance discounts. They also had some "generic" brand heat wraps that are similar to Thermacare, but not quite as nice. However, they were $.99 for a pack of four! I have kidney stones, and these are LIFESAVERS when I pass one! Hopefully these will do the trick just as well. They had numerous other items on clearance, and were out of a few items, but I think it's definitely worthwhile to check out. I might go to a different Rite Aid tomorrow and see what all they have on clearance too.

Publix, Winn Dixie, and Costco 2/27

We are out of alot of staples at my house, so I had to run to various stores in order to get everything I needed at the cheapest price possible. Luckily, all three of these stores are within a few miles of each other, so I didn't have to go out of my way. First I went to Publix. I mostly only got sale items there, and stuff to make enchiladas for dinner (husband's favorite!). I purchased:
  • 1 Old El Paso microwavable Mexican rice, reg. price $1.99, used $.50/1 MQ
  • 1 Sara Lee bread, on sale for $1.99, had $.55/1 MQ
  • 2 Green Giant canned corn, on sale $.64, had $1/2 SQ
  • 1 Gorton's grilled shrimp, on sale $3.75, had $1/1 MQ
  • 1 Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers, on sale $1.20, had $.40/1 MQ
  • 2 Right Guard Men's deodorant, on sale $1.40, had $2/2 MQ
  • 1 Oreo Cakesters, had FREE coupon (still had to pay $.10 since the coupon was only good up to $3.29 and these were $3.39)
  • 1 Jimmy Dean Fresh Link sausage, on sale $1.99
  • 1 pint strawberries, on sale $1.67
  • 1 Healthy Balance apple juice, FREE coupon (thanks Two Thrifty Sisters!!)
  • 1 Louana canola oil, on sale $1.70
  • 1 Pillsbury Ready to Bake cookie dough, on sale $1.58
  • 1 Old El Paso refried beans, reg price $1.45
  • 1 Artichoke, on sale $2
  • 1 Mission corn tortillas, on sale $1.25
  • 1 Doritos, on sale $2
  • 3 oranges, on sale $.99/lb
Overall I spent $25.49 with tax, and saved $31.50, which is over my goal of 50%!

Then I had to go to Costco since we were out of eggs, butter, and hamburger meat. I usually only buy eggs, milk, butter, and meat at Costco, since it's usually always the cheapest price. I got 5.6 lbs of lean hamburger meat, 4 lbs of butter, and 18 ct of eggs for around $22.

Winn Dixie had pork chops on sale, so I picked up 2 packs B1G1, and spent around $7.

Now, I am tired and want to go back to bed already :) Saving money wears me out!

Publix trip x 2

So this morning I went into Publix, got all my groceries, and went to the register. The cashier began suppressing all my 50 cent coupons that say "Do not double". While I understand they do say this, I've never had any problem before, so I asked her politely if it was a new thing. She rudely responded "I can have the manager explain this to you." I said no thank you, please give me back my coupons, and on I went to a different Publix where I had no trouble at all! I didn't have that many 50 cent coupons but her attitude is what made me decide to go elsewhere. Anyways, here's what I got:
1 Publix hashbrowns, reg. price $2.79 (my family loves hashbrowns...and we were out!)
2 Classico pasta sauces, on sale $1.30
2 Betty Crocker Muffin Mixes, on sale for $1.35, had 2 $.50/1 coupons
1 Green Giant frozen veggies, on sale for $1, had $.50/1 coupon (FREE!)
1 Dayquil 2 ct, reg. price $1.29, had $1.50/1 coupon ($.21 overage!)
1 Progresso bread crumbs, on sale $.97
1 Cole's garlic bread, on sale $1.15, had $.50/1 coupon
1 Colgate toothpaste, on sale $2.50 had $.50/1 peelie
1 Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, on sale $1.67, had $.95/1 coupon
2 Eat fresh fresh vegetables, on sale $1
1.04 lb Asparagus, on sale $2.49/lb
1 5lb bag Idaho potatoes, on sale $2.49
.87 lb sweet onion, on sale $.99/lb
1.2 lb. b/s chicken breast, on sale $2.99/lb
1 lb beef for stew, on sale $2.99/lb
2 lb Publix long grain rice, reg. price $1.79 (we were out of this also)

I also had a $5/30 coupon from a home mailer, making my total with tax $25.72. I normally wouldn't have bought the meat (not such a great price), but we are running low and that will at least give us two meals this weekend, and hopefully what's in the freezer will take us through the week. I saved $31.15, or 55%! And the bagger said "Wow, coupons really do work!" that comment made my day :)

Valentine's day deals!

So my husband hates to shop, but since it is Valentine's day and all he agreed to go with me (I did bribe him with lunch at a Mexican restaurant). So we managed to hit Rite Aid, Winn Dixie, and JC Penney while we were out. We got some great deals! First we ran into JC Penney, armed with a $10 coupon and a $7 gift card from returning a Christmas present. My husband needed some blue jeans, since he seems to keep tearing rips in his, so we got him some jeans for $14.99, which meant they were FREE after coupon and gift card!

Then we hit Rite Aid, which is quickly becoming my absolute favorite store. We bought:
  • 1 Gillette Satin Care shaving cream, on clearance for $1.50, had $.55/1 MQ and will get $1 SCR
  • 1 Gillette clinical strength deodorant, on sale for $7.99, had $1/1 MQ, and will get $2 SCR
  • 1 Gillette men's body wash, FREE (Buy 1 Gillette deodorant, get body wash free MQ)
  • 1 Cottonelle 20 double pk, on sale for $10.99, had $1/1 Store coupon and $.50/1 MQ, will get $2 SCR
I used a $5/25 coupon to sweeten the deal. While I didn't get it all free, my total oop was
$9.47 including tax once I get my SCRs back. And since the toilet paper alone cost more than this, I would say I came out pretty good! We have so much toilet paper now that it's a little scary.

Finally, I ran into Winn Dixie, since it's on the drive home and they had country style pork ribs B1G1. For two packs it was only $6.50, and it printed a $10/50 Winn Dixie coupon. I plan on using that coupon at Publix next time I go!

Snow day!

So, the weatherman predicted snow today and of course I didn't believe him--how often does it snow in south Alabama? But lo and behold it did snow, and since my work closed at 12 today I ran by Publix on the way home amid a "snow storm" (not really...but for down here it is!). We were completely out of half and half, butter, and eggs - which are pretty essential in our house so I grabbed those and a few sale items. Here's what I got:
  • Publix dozen eggs, reg. price $1.89
  • Publix butter, reg. price $2.69
  • 2 Land of Lakes half and half creamers, reg. price $2.50, had a $1.25/2 coupon from Kroger home mailer
  • 1 Excedrin 20 ct, on sale for $2.50, had $2 off printable coupon
  • 1 Arnold's bread, on sale for $1.85
  • 1 Publix Southern style potato salad, on sale for $1.25
  • 1 Healthy Choice fresh mixers, on sale for $1.50, had $1 coupon
  • 2 Pillsbury cookie dough, on sale for $1.57, had $1/2 coupon
  • 1 Orville Redenbacher smart pop popcorn, on sale for $2.45, had $1 coupon
  • 2 Hallmark greeting cards, $3.29 and $2.29 (one for Valentine's day and one birthday card), had $.99 store coupon when you buy 2
Overall only spent $23.26 including tax, and saved $18.88 (45%). And I got a Valentine's card for my hubby and a birthday card for my mom!

Then, I couldn't resist going to Target to do the razors deal. I only got one newspaper last week, so I only did the deal once, but I plan on buying more Olay body washes soon to get my $15 rebate. I bought one Fusion razor, one Venus embrace razor, and one Olay body wash. I had a $5 gift card from a previous Target transaction, so my total oop was $4.42 and I got a $5 gift card back!
