Blown budget..sigh

I had a great plan when I walked into Publix today, but it went downhill fast when I realized the in-laws are coming into town tomorrow for my husband's birthday and I hadn't bought him a cake or anything, and he had asked if I would make homemade enchiladas tonight for dinner as his "birthday dinner". I had to buy the extra ingredients for that since I don't normally have them all at home.
  • Breakstone 24 oz. sour cream, reg. price $2.59, had $1/1 PQ
  • 1 package Eggo waffles, on sale $1.30
  • 1 package Ritz crackerfuls, reg. price $3.29, had FREE item coupon
  • 2 Hungryman meals, on sale $1.79
  • 1 Louana canola oil, on sale $1.70, had $.75/1 MQ
  • 1 Old El Paso taco dinner kit, on sale $1.45, had $.50/1 IP that doubled
  • 3 lemons, on sale $.33/ea
  • Tortillas, reg. price $1.89
  • Bakery key lime pie, reg. price $7.99 (he wanted this instead of cake!)
  • Cheese dip, reg. price $4.39 (ouch! but it makes a Mexican meal SO much better)
Ended up spending $23.15 and saving $14.92, or 39%. Would've been almost 60% without the cheese dip or key lime pie...but hey, his birthday's only once a year and it's still ALOT cheaper than eating out!
